I am putting together a dana 44 xj axle converting to exploder brakes and the seal i got- timken 9912s-which is correct and i searched here as well for that number.Anyways the issue i have is that the seal goes into the axle tubes easy by hand and i tried both sides same deal-it does not seem to me that it will seal very well like this, anybody noticed this too? and I was wanting to avoid the "silly cone it" deal-I hate to cover up something that just isnt "correct" way to seal it.Kinda like band aid I am using a rubbicon retainer plate on it so spacing isnt the issue either.I just dont want to take it apart again and again futzin with it to get it right.Any ideas or solutions ?:dunno:

Yes I found the thin metal of 9912-s a poor fit.

I then found this at napa 18731. It has a rubber seal around the edge and fit much better.
