I bought doors of a member on here but dont have the key so im wondering since im gonna rekey these doors anyway can my ignition key be made to work instead of having separate door and ignition keys

I was looking at my original door key and my ignition key and they look similar.
Also need to know where to buy just the pins(not dealer)and springs?
Should a good hardware store or lock smith have pins to fit jeep available?

In theory, yes. Although. I have searched a little bit on this recently. Even though the keys are the same The ign. is "6 pin" and door is 5 pin". But with a rekey, should work. Or, you could swap in a later Chryco ign switch and matching door lock cyl.

Whats the going rate to have a smith rekey a door if you take it to him?

Someone at work was telling me Locksmiths
have a tool they put into the lock and that tells them what key needs to be made...

id rather do this than have to pull locks out and repin.

Problem is locksmith I called today played stupid...wtf
