So earlier this summer I bought another XJ, a '91, 4.0 AW4(of course). Well after I plugged the fuel pump in it has ran fine but shifting was delayed. Did a bunch of research online and it seemed to lead to a bad TPS. I was hesitant on this since the engine ran fine, maybe idled a little slow but ran fine. The shifts however were at 3K+ unless you played with the throttle just right. So doing some testing I replaced the TPS, yes it now shifts like it should slow and smooth. Engine does seem to idle under load a little higher. All good. Now where is that creaking noise coming from when I turn the wheel???????? Maybe the lift will take care of that.
