Would this setup also work on a TJ?
I dont know but I gave up on the WJ 4.7 PS pump idea. I tried and tried and not matter what that sucker whined to no end and then when I tried replacing the reservoir seal it just leaked more. I went back to the regualr XJ pump.
The gearbox swap I did has helped a lot too. I am going to order a overdrive pulley from PSC for my pump. I am running a cooler as well so I am calling it a day on this project.
This being a very old thread which swap is simpler the Durango swap or the WJ?
I'm going through the exact same thing with my WJ pump! I wish someone could figure this out... :helpme:
Btw, I used the XJ fitting and did NOT enlarge the hole.
That's two different things
1 is the durango gearbox swap the other is a WJ 4.7 PS pump swap
I did the YJ Gearbox swap. Its a fixed ratio and not variable like the stock XJ. As far as I know the reason behind the Durango box swap is its bigger, I could be wrong.
there is room enough for 2 or 3 o-rings on the sleeve, so you may want to try and put a couple on there. i know when i resealed my pump/res. the one o-ring was a little loose fitting. i think the pump had worn a very slight groove into it from the old 0-ring that became very stiff. once i put another one on and just stacked them, it felt ALOT tighter.
