On Monday night my wife recieved a call that a mother will never forget. She found out that a Jeep Grand Cherokee lost a rear tire and it bounced down the road and jump the median and hit the winshield of her daughters car. Her daughter went to the hospital. We had found out that she was brain dead. We were told that her brother and dad were going to pull the plug at 12 PA time.
The reason I am doing this post is because we all have bigger tire than normal. For this reason I want to make sure that everyone knows how important it is to make sure we use the correct parts and torque.

I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say you and your family have our deepest sympathies.
Rest assured I will be checking my lug nuts before I leave work tonight.
God bless.

Thank you. My wife is doing alot better now that time has passed. My wife and I think that it sucks that bad things happen to wonderful people. I had asked my wife before I posted this and she said that her daughter would want to help people. Did you find any of them loose. I know after I had posted in every chapter I think at least 3 people had loose nuts.

No, thankfully.
I probably over torque mine anyways.
Maybe just a subconscious fear of something like this happening.

My heartfelt sympathies to you and yours, Jeremiah... as a former Les Schwab employee, I know how important wheel lugnut torque is, for just the reasons you stated... since learning about the importance of this issue, it has always been my practice to use proper torque specs and sequences when installing wheels... and I urge everyone to learn and practice the same... it may seem like a waste of time, but believe me... it's not... thank you for reminding us all how important it is to take safety seriously...

Just want to say... overtorquing can be just as bad... too much stretch on a wheel stud can seriously weaken the steel, leading to a failure... when in doubt, look it up!
