Old man shoots illegal alien thieves...

Yep, that is what comes from having Progressive Socialist Peoples Party Internationale comrades running the DA's office.

Have you followed what has been happening in the U.K. and Australia? It is a crime to defend yourself, your family, your property. Still believe it can't happen here? It IS happening here already.

I've heard similar stories before such as up in MA where some kid in his house stabbed a robber with a sword and was charged for assault with a deadly weapon. But in this story, even the thieves admitted to the theft. There shouldn't even be a case.

Castle doctrine(aka castle law) FTMFW! I love Indiana sometimes!

this kind of reminds me of the movie "felon"... dude kills a theif for breaking into his house stealing his wallet etc and goes to prison for murder.

my feelings are if they are on ur property taking something of yours u have a right to defend urself any way possible

While I understand your feelings and point of view, I have no desire to take the life of a person over a television or stereo.

If someone is threatening me, my Wife, or even my dogs, yes I would shoot them. If someone is stealing weapons from me, yes I would shoot them. If someone is messing with my XJ, I would have to think about it really, really hard--but I wouldn't kill someone for a piece of personal property that can be replaced--with the sole exception of weapons, which they might use to harm others.

Think about it before hand and make up your mind. If the time ever comes you won't have time to think about it then.

thats not the way i intended it to come out and im sorry if it seemed that way, i basically mean if their on your property threatening your life, you should be able to defend yourself as you seem fit, if their trying to steal my jeep, or tv or whatever i would think it should be fair to stop them and hold them there until the police show up without catching crap from the law ya know?

Ok, then we agree, yes, I would attempt to hold them for police too. :wave1:

That's why I'm glad I live in Florida, there is a law that basicly states if you have probable cause that you or your families lives are in danger you can do whatever means necessary do defend yourself.

If I were the old guy I would have made no mention of property theft. I would have said "The guy was in my truck driving At me and I was in immediate fear for my life. Obviously I am old and can't run from a speeding truck so I used the only means I had to save guard my life.". The fact they were in the victims(old guy) truck made no difference at all in his actions of self defense.

Also I would never shoot someone over stolen property, I like my big screen TV but not enough to live with the memories of killing someone.

Yeah, hold them there, thats what i'd do! :D

He made a mistake...

fired two shots, and neither of the crooks is dead. Both of them should be. There wouldn't be a case if that was true.

Aside from that, I can't believe they're charging him with a dozen felonies and haven't charged the crooks with diddly squat. WTF? They better flip that around and charge them with a dozen felonies and him with not doing a good enough job on Monday.

You seem to contradict your own rationalization of what justifies shooting someone...

I can understanding shooting to protect yourself and your family and maybe even your dogs; but your guns? According to your own terms, those too are replaceable items of property.

Would you shoot someone who stole a sword, a butcher knife, scissors, a chainsaw? You have no way of knowing how stolen guns would be used, much more than say a stolen chainsaw.

You can't have it both ways....

Your guns should be locked secured from theft, like mine are.....

OK, lets see if i get this right..
(1) They were running away
(2) he only hit one
(3) This is the big one..He hit him in the FACE..(running away)
OK, i need to go back and read this again..

Damn, I didn't know someone stole my identity.:anon:

I was looking at gun cabinets yesterday. I need one. A gun safe would be sweet but they are out of my price range ATM. The pistol is not gonna be locked up at night unless I get a shotgun.

Check Craigslist for a safe, that's where I got mine, super cheap. Also Washington is a castle state as well.......you come into my house and I'm going to make sure you dont leave without knowing you wish ya hadn't...hahaha

Wa is also an open carry state! So I can pack my stuff on my hip anywhere I go, except for places you cant already carry and private businesses that dont let ya.

We use a 'reasonable man' doctrine. Posting publicly on the internet that you have a blood lust won't help matters if you ever have to 'defend' yourself.

Wa is also an open carry state! So I can pack my stuff on my hip anywhere I go, except for places you cant already carry and private businesses that dont let ya.

You better check that again, sport. There isn't anything specifically prohibiting us from 'open carry', but there isn't anything that specifically allows it, either. Walking around in Western WA with a gun showing on the hip is a lot different than walking around rural Eastern WA in the same manner. On the wet side of the state you're more likely to disturb the peace with a visible weapon than the dry side.

I dont by any means have a blood lust. In fact the training I have as a private citizen makes me fully aware of when and when not to use my gun, that and the fact that I NEVER want to have to use it, EVER! I simply said dont come into my house planning on causing any problems or you'll have one on your hands real quick.

Second, We ARE an open carry state. I have read the law, but In some cases certain cities may enact there own law to prohibit it. That you must read on to find out if your city or town is ok to carry. Its a mess, and if your interested in the law go to this website, it has some great info. Granted I wouldnt carry into the mall open, that would get a scare real quick, but I am saying that I would carry around town or in the grocery store or gas station etc....as long as the private business doesn't have a problem with it. Just another one of those you must know the law real good.
