what will the adjustment do? and does the box work other things other than the cruise control?

No, the box only works cruise. It depends on which screw you turn. Read the box it is stamped as to what each screw controlls. Their should be a low speed (which will controll what speed you can engage cruise)
a high speed( which will controll how fast cruise will let you go)
and a SW speed( which will controll how hard the cruise will engage)
