monotonous oil change Debate..

I run Rotella Syn 5w40 in my xj, with an oversized Mobil Filter. Used to do just a 5000 mile change interval. Typically that was about every 4 or 5 months.

Now I don't daily drive the cherokee, so last I checked it had like... 800 miles on an oil change I did back in June.

I wouldn't want the same oil in the engine for longer than 9 months or so... I can see possible issues with condensation especially if I have been doing a lot of short trips.

My wj with the 4.7HO just gets 5w30 Mobil one with a mopar filter, 5000 mile interval.

I added a quart of Lucas oil additive to my dd (98 xj) last week. The stuff is bad luck. 2 Days later my alternator crapped out, my radiator started leaking and my distributer bushing went to hell. All in the same day. You have been warned...
