I guess. There are many other DIY mods that you could have done with the spare change that you saved by purchasing a standard hitch. In fact, you could have spent $150 on a front receiver, $100 HF flux-core welder, and still had money left over for some scrap steel for a custom tow-bar.

To each there own. It's cool that you made something up yourself. Would you do it all over again?

Absolutely I would do it again. Like I said earlier, when I get around to buying a real front bumper I will ask them to put receivers on it. I get the ability to change out parts as needed, and I have a triangular setup for towing, which are features that you don't get from a single receiver.

Nice work and it does what YOU need.
You might want to look into adding a factory front skid, it should fit and protect the steering and axle. Both the Cherokee with Detours tow points and the Comanche in this thread have the factory skid.

Yep, I definitely plan to get one, along with a belly skid.
