Modified rear axle shock mounts(pics needed)

I did have a death wobble problem but it was due more to worn out kingpin springs, and crappy factory style 1ton steering, than position of my rear shocks. Oh well, pic just shows up as x now anyway LOL.

Looks cool and sounds fairly simple. My qustion is why are the OEM shock mounts so damn long??
