i drilled out my knuckles to 5/8, to use heim joints for over the knuckle setup. i wanna go back, idk if you can buy tapper inserts or not?? if not does anyone have a spare knuckle for a driver side D30.

thanks for the help, im just confused about the welding part. i didnt think you could weld to cast iron.

D30 are common; you can go to the pick-n-pull and get one as a replacment. This way you have the modified one if you decided to go back.

Cast iron usually requires a different method, preheat, weld, slow cool, etc. But nothing wrong with cast iron welding in general.

I have a d30 knuckle off of a 99 XJ. If you still need one PM me and we can get something worked out.

oh yeah, free and you pay shipping...b/c that is how I roll (most of the time :D )

thanks, i think a while back you were gonna help me out but the mail lost the bolt that you sent me. right now im trying to see if i can get one local, if not ill hit you up. on a side note i was wondering if anyone else has had problems with otk setup? i have rustys piece of crap and everytime i turn to the left the tie rod hits the right coil pad?? plus i dont like how the drag link mounts to the right side knuckle. i was thinking of buying teraflex knuckle and get an new/used driver side knuckle and go back to tie rod ends. http://www.teraflex.biz/products/teraflex/cherokee-xj-84-01/high-steer-knuckle.html...

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x56/sWissfoo/STP62119.jpgthe only way i could get around it was to mount the tie rod under the knuckle. idk what to do, im gonna take my whole front end apart tomorrow,i need to fix this.

If you decide to weld the inserts, a 55% nickle rod works well when welding cast with a stick welder. You really only need to tack it in, Goferit recommends in 3 spots around the insert flange. I just put one in yesterday.
