installing factory AMP

I think the ohms are the primary issue. Most everything aftermarket is built based upon a 4 ohm system. It's also a poor quality amp. Really not any better than the amp built into the back of a quality aftermarket head unit. I cut and spliced it out of the system when I upgraded my head unit and speakers. I added a small aftermarket amp using the RCA preouts to run my subwoofer.
 
If you are just running factory speakers (or other 2ohm speakers) and a factory deck, then the amp will help a bit. If you are running aftermarket (4ohm) speakers and an aftermarket deck, then don't even bother with the factory amp.
