I have a 90 Cherokee and i am changing the axle seals.

I have the front apart with the axles out but the axles a 2 short axles. The passenger side axle is short and it connects to another axle on the inside of the house. I cant pull the carrier out because i dont know how to pull the axle out that is on the inside of the housing. Can anyone let me know what to do????

Or better yet anyone that has done this and wants to help i am in downtown san jose and can really use it right now. call me my number is 408-401-7990 josh

so im assuming you have a CAD axle?
please post up what you have.
if you have a CAD axle there is a C clip holding the inner pass side shaft in. pull that c clip and then pull the chunk

Ok so i got a little farther but i am now really stuck!

I have a dana 30 and it has the vacuum disconnect. I got everything apart including the old seals.

I got the driver side seal in no problem.

The passenger side seal is another story though.

I am trying to get the passenger side seal in and i only have about 2 inches of room to to work in side the housing. I can only work in the vacuum box area.

My issue is how the hell do i get the new seal in when i have no room to hit it with anything to get it to set?

Has anyone done this before to the dana 30 with the vacuum disconnect and can help me out with any input?

i dont have anything that will fit on the out side of the seal(the metal part around the rubber on the inside) and that will fit in the housing.

Tomorrow i am going to try using both of the bad seals that i have and a over size washer so that it will pull evenly and so i wont damaged the rubber on the inside of the seal.or i might try and tap it in from the driver side of the housing and move it around the out side of the seal so i can make sure it sits right.

a wooden dowell, or gas pipe? with a washer or a socket would be good

i pretty much just gave a away a non disco 30...should have posted up...those disco axles are garbage if ya ask me. just hit the depot and find something you can rig up, i have never dug into a disco 30 so im not much help.

i have read this article and tried to do what it say but no go. The seal doesnt go in straight so i am having some tools machined for this job. A friend owns a shop.
