I'm not really trying to compare, as such, but I was curious about how do these bumpers affect the safety of a DD - especially in the event of a front end or rear end collision. Thanks!

In a high speed MVA the aftermarket bumper will hold the front together better but really not do much else. Depending on the mounts it may transfer more of the impact energy back into the vehicle if the unibody rails can't crumple. Are they bad? Buy a few and smash some XJs at different speeds and let us know.
I doesn't work so well..It didn't happen for me and the steering wheel and column caused all the damage I took.CHUGLYxj said:also the steering colum should have a "crumple zone" in it so that it breaks away
