is it common for it to run 70-80 all the time? i have noticed my dads yj run 60 tops. and things to ckeck?

check the pressure sender. they're pretty cheap.

Mine is the same way, except at a warm idle it drops to around 40. I have changed the sending unit twice. I figure as long as it stays the same its OK. JIM.

Mine runs 70 75 most all the time.Was told by a friend that works at a dealership that is normal.

Mine used to run about in the middle of the gauge, but now its around 70-80. I may have only been putting in 5.5 qts of oil rather than the required 6...although my Mom's 92 Lumina runs in the 40 range except under hard acceleration. Then it hits 60.
