Heater fan

I have a '96 XJ w/4.0L engine and AW4 auto trans.
When I slide the climate control lever to the heat position the fan doesn't work, but when I slide it to any other position the fan works fine. Is there some kind of relay that is bad or what??

I would start inside with the switch. Check the back for MELTING.
