Front driveshaft

I recently bought a 1991 Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0 engine and NP-231 t-case. I notice that my front driveshaft spins even though I am in 2hi. Should it be doing this and what would be causing it if it isn't supposed to be spinning.

If you have a non-disconnect front axle than its going to spin when youre in 2hi unlike disconnecting axles. Theres nothing wrong with this, the front drive "portion" of the t-case is in neutral during this time but the driveshaft spins freewheeling with the axle.
