Just pickedup a 2000 p71 Crown vic police interceptor But it has Massive amounts of play in the rear axle (in and out) i can push and pull the wheel about quarter of an inch in and out. I pulled the diff cover off and pulled the axle shaft out it uses the c-clips to hold the shaft in and i know a little bit of slop is normal with c-clips but this is way too much! how do i get rid of exesses play? can i buy thicker c-clips? or will new axle shafts take care of it? I know my XJ has the same issue but not no where near this much play in the axle.
