Five things that make your junk, junk.

Five things I pledge to fix this winter to make my rig non-junky:

Heater core (leaking),

headliner (none since the through the roof cage),

stereo (hello, who owns a tape deck anymore?)

underhood wiring (can you say Renix rat's nest?)

center console (need to build a new one)

I spend all my time on hard parts, and let this seemingly little stuff go.

Eventually, it drives you nuts.......and your wife won't get in the Jeep anymore.

1. Fix rusted-out floorboard in '87 MJ so I can install the upgraded interior.

2. Return said MJ to driver/wheeler status.

3. Deliver stripped '89 MJ body to 0313 for Baja 1000 buildup, freeing up much needed garage space.

4. Paint garage walls & floor and install space heater.

5. Set up tools & workspace.

All this to prepare for resuming work on the '97 XJ trailer queen, last touched in 10/03.

Engine oil leak (main bearing seal)
Engine oil leak number 2 (filter adaptor)
Transfer case oil leak (case)
Front pinion oil leak
Rear pinion oil leak
I don't mind the headliner hanging on my head much.

1. valve cover gasket leak
2. oil filter adapter leak
3. possible rear main leak (again-first replaced by PO 70K ago)
4. dented rear bumper/hatch from the three times i've been rear-ended.
5. left taillight, gash in metal from 83 grand waggy that backed into me.

I don't think I'll actually get around to any of this in the near future, but we'll see how things go.

Okay, I guess maybe the five top items?

1: Build and install stroker.
2: Rebuild, SYE, and install 231.
3: Truss, gear, and lock D30/D44, install.
4: Install TNT Y-Link kit, shocks, & Stiffiners.
5: Purchase and install 33's.

Sounds like a good afternoon's work, right?

1. Fit 'n' Finish on stereo install
2. Replace crankcase vent lines (what are they? $15 apiece at the dealer?)
3. AW4 propeller shaft seal leak
4. Leaking LR wheel cylinder
5. Remove drooping headliner

top 5 out of 50 :rattle:

stock steering is totally shot.

D30 is a D30.

everything else works pretty well. my junk list is short!

oh - and pass. mirror torn off.

Since the 1990 is officially running for the first time since I bought it in August, I can start the build.

0. tRegister, title, smog check, and licence Jeep
1. Install factory tape deck
2. Herculine the bottom 1/3 of the jeep (to cover rust)
3. New brakes
4. New shocks
5. Transfer CB from 1985 to 1990

-redo brakes with a 96 booster and MC, electric linelock, and Wilwood proportioning valve
-find a new 4.88 Toy third
-build a nice tire carrier (aka, no more "lantern hook")

all that cosmetic/comfort stuff is so far gone on mine I've given up for now, the best I'll probably do in that category is put some new front fenders on.

Top 5 reasons mine is junk?

#1, I own it.
#2, I beat the crap out of it
#3, It spends more time on stands than on tires.
#4, Every body panel is dented, even the roof now.
#5, The interior is a complete mess, mud every where.

But it is still my favorite ride!
