How much clearance is gained from this?

Is shaving the gear set necessary?

The added clearance is roughly an inch. There is no ring gear shave necessary.

Well worth it.

Pretty much the same as a D44 at that point.

That was certainly the concensus with everyone we've discussed this project with.

We also offer the option of having your axle housing machined and the shave kit installed and welded if all brackets are torched and cleaned off of the axle.

Any pics of the shaved 60 with the cover off? Maybe even with a ring in there too? If my 60 wasn't just about to get installed, Id do this now. Hell, i shoulda done it when I narrowed it, I just didnt feel like getting into it at the time. My shaved 14b has ~5/8" more clearance then the HP60 upfront now.

Not likely. When you heat metal it expands and warps, so we mill all of our covers flat to ensure a tight seal. I wouldn't feel good about sending one to someone with the possibility of something going wrong.

With the discount these are about $217.
