Custom yoke style SYE for the 242 or 231 done.

Sorry too late for edit. Would the bearing spacer even be required with the yoke since the extra length of the yoke may negate the need of the extra distance? Any one who has put the RE1801, RE1802 on the NP207 feel free to chime in if the spacer is needed or not if the yoke is used.
I just looked again at the RE instructions, http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Img/Products/Pn/5/1805/PDF/Instructions/0.pdf and looks quite possible that no bearing spacer would be required as you are making the yoke fit against the bearing anyway. I cant see any reason myself why it would not work and would love to add that to my write up with a few pictures if you go ahead with it.

Cheers

I found most of those rigs and they were all slip yoke too.

Your actually looking for a slip yolk, it just has to be the right one. You modify it into a fixed yolk.

I am going to search for one next time I get to the junk yard. I have the older style output, but was given the leftovers on a friends SYE install from a newer case. This should work to seal it up, so this mod sounds great to me!

That is right, what you are looking for is that it is using U bolts and not saddles to hold the uni place.

This is a great place to find them... they even list one as "Jeep 231 T/C CV Yoke"!!!
http://www.driveshaft.com/catalogs_type.htm?type=Transmission%20Yokes&sort_by=spline_count

You just have to know somebody on the inside....

Edit: I found an old thread on JU that references that same number and apparently this does exist. I'd like to see one up close if anyone has photos. The ones used in the JU photos from 6 years ago were apparently of someone's SYE kit, not the actual referenced part number.

http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184841

All that aside, I'm a little concerned about the overall length and being allowed to still run a front shaft in the rear using that part number. Anyone else seen this in action?

did anybody confirm any applications for the yoke other than a corvette...not many to be found in the pick n pulls
seems odd to be looking at ford transmissions like was mentioned above...

from the e-bay listing of the corvette style yoke...

Im saying its the same one that is on the stock DL. Hence has no saddles or u bolts...... pressed in u joint. So pretty much found what was already on the stock driveline. Ill look at the other list to confirm if they will work........ I already have a SYE tho..... LOL

You just need a slip yoke that has U bolts instead of the saddles that the stock one has. Those listed have the right 27 spline count, you just have to make sure they have U bolts as well.

i glanced under some at my local pick n pull...
no luck
i'm guessing that we won't find it...
seems easier, stronger and more economical to use the press in type of yoke.
the u-bolt style just doesn't seem necessary and is inferior in many ways.
why would a manufacturer choose to use it?
the only application we can confirm is on a 60 year old sports car

Has anyone found a cheaper price for this yoke yet? TW wants $120 now, Jesse from High Angle wants $120

Marcus you bought yours for $60 originally from TW... that is a much more appetizing price to pay...

Who else is there to buy this yoke from?

Never mind.. AGAIN.

Forgive my ignorance, but what advantage does this setup have over the PORC SYE? I am assuming that you can still run a stock front DS with the PROC setup...

I just called them up and gave them the part number. I don't have an account there, but it didn't seem to matter.
