Cruise Control problems

I have a 90 cherokee and I recently noticed my cruise control has gone out. Over the summer it worked alright, not always though. When I put it on cruise the speed would sometimes decelerate then the car would compensate and speed up to the speed I set it at. Never would stay on the speed it would always surge and jump around. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I really like the cruise feature and I hate not being able to use it because it won't engage at all.

You likely have a vacuum leak. Start with the vacuum ball in the front bumper and work your way back from there. It's kind of a comon problem for the lines to leak around the battery tray. Might give it a look.
