I have a 1989 XJ and just swapped in a Brake Booster and Master Cylinder from a 1997 Grand Cherokee. My brakes are still squishy and not stopping well. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I kept the old proportioning valve because I still have drum rears. I bench bled the MC and then bled the brakes starting from the furthest wheel. I adjusted the rear drums then bled again until new fluid came through. Also, I kept topping off the MC as I bled. Oh, and no leaks.
What am I forgetting to do or what can I do to correct this problem?
