ARE THE OLDER NON "C" (custom) D35's STRONGER?

I can see how that could affect strength.

My disagreement was the semi-floating comment made by ctavel. He seems to think that the method of axle retention is what makes an axle semi-floating. The only thing thats changed on the d35 axle over the years was the change to c-clip vice bearing retention. Which in and of itself did not change the axle from being a semi-floating axle.

I won't belabor the point, but is it possible you see more c-clips breaking because there are more out there? A Jeep with a non c-clip d35 is now almost 15 years out of production. Most are in boneyards by now and if they aren't, then they were being powered by fewer hp and less tq than the newer axles.
