howdy- I'm looking at picking up a cheap Harbor Freight Tools welder for a couple projects I have around the house. Before the flaming/lectures start, yes, I know they are not made to last, and yes I know I should save my money for a Lincoln/Miller/Hobart etc... but... given the choice, would a 120 amp arc 'stick' welder, or a 90 amp flux core wire welder be the best for me? (no mig- don't want to mess with the gas) Both are around $100 bucks. I plan to use it to weld an exhaust clamp, maybe weld on some bpe/brackets, build a roof rack, and fix a fireplace damper handle in the house, and other small stuff here and there.
I'm not doing any bodywork or sheetmetal, but I don't want to burn through my exhaust.
