I've been looking through the vibration posts, and I haven't yet come across one that seems to match my current problem.
Recently, I've been getting some vibrations from what seems to be the front end/engine area, primarily when accelerating. The vibrations tend to let up when I take my foot off the gas. Along with the vibrations, my engine, or something in my front end, is a lot louder than it once was. The only thing I can compare it to is when your muffler first starts to go. My Jeep sounds meaner, but I know something isn't right.
I am also feeling the vibration up through my steering wheel.
I took my Jeep to a local mechanic. They're good guys, but not necessarily Jeep experts. They couldn't seem to find any blatantly wrong with my suspension components.
My Jeep is a 2000 XJ, with a 3" Rancho lift, 31x10.5x15" tires, a Rubicon adjustable track bar, and my transfer case was dropped a few years ago after I had to get my axle rebuilt.
Anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this? Is this something I can have my local mechanic take care of? Or would I be better served to travel the 25 miles outside of town to see a Jeep/4x4 specialist?
