nope opening it up is pretty much then only way, well I guess you could install it and if it doesn't trun as sharp then you know the spacers are in there. You do have to space it off the frame more since the end cap is bigger.

what to write up. get the box, make spacers so it clear the frame rail and bolt it in. Might do one if I ever get mine in I guess.

So the internal spacers that have to be removed to retain the full range of movement are just spacers between the box and frame?

um, no there are inside the box. But the end cap is 3.5" instead of 3" like the XJ so its going to hit the frame rail unless it's spaced off another 1/4" or so.
