actual gas mileage thread

94, auto, 6in lift, 33's, 4.11's im getting 13 around town and 16 on the freeway.

99 5spd 3.07's 2" BB 30x9.50 revo's magnaflow cat dynomax cat back cut up airbox TB spacer K&N replacement filter
90k miles
shifting around 1800 rpm
around town 16-18 mpg
highway 21-24
on a couple of occasions the mopst recent being a trip to george washington national forest last spring I set the cruise at 70 mph and left it there most of the way.
I got 25 mpg on the trip down there

because of the crappy 3.07 gears my jeep gets mbetter mpg doing 70-75 than it does doing 55. at 55 its revving way to low and it has to work to hard to move the jeep. at 70 its closer to the sweet spot of the power band and its just more efficient there.

I attempted to jump up to 31's and my around town didnt change much surprisingly it was still around 15-16
but ohh my god my highway mpg dropped to 17-18. most jeepers would think thats great but when your used to getting ATLEAST 21 usually 22-23, 18 on a good day is BAAAAD

94', 2 door, 5spd, 3.07's, 33x12.50 retreads, 4.0 all stock, 4.5" of lift, (way to many spare parts on board = alot of extra weight)

9-10mpg in the city
17mpg at best on the highway

Mine is 98 with 4 to 4.5" lift, 3.07 gears, 235/75/15, 5 speed
and it has an m8000 winch and heavy front bumper

Amen about the sweet spot being 75ish mph!!
Combined driving 18 to 20mpg
Best was 24mpg at 75-80mph, risking a ticket though!

On a 2800 mile trip to Moab, loaded plus three adults, 19.8 GPSed round trip average.

89XJ 2000 block, reman 89 spec Renix top end, 40k on it, colder stat, 160? The thing never goes over 175. Rusty's intake and spacer, well worn glass pack, new cat, 3.55s, Auto, 31" Firestone Destination MTs.

1990, 5" lift, 3.07's, 35"'s, manual trans. My best is 19MPG on a long trip drafting a 5th wheel, doing about 60MPH... my return mileage (not drafting) loaded with 3 guys, packed with camping stuff, kayak and a bike on top, was 16mpg @ 80MPH. These are completely highway miles. working on funds for gears and axles...

88XJ, 4.0L (239K), 5spd, 3.07 gears
2" lift w/ 30x9.50 BFG's
Full skids, front bumper, and rock rails

On my last tank I averaged 20.7mpg after factoring in tire size. Mine is about 1/10 of a mile off. The best I've been able to get has been 24 mpg all freeway at ~63mph. I usually shift around 2000 rpm, and drive pretty easy around town.

I'm kind of scared to step up to 33s/35s.

All highway at 65mph.

tire size? gears? lift? year? anything else you'd like to add?

that's pretty nice! I might assassinate the president for that kind of mileage in my rig!

Hello was just wondering I have a set of 3.73 gears in an old 85 my 92 has 3.07 with 5 speed at 70 down the interstate I run 2000 rpm in 5th with 235/75r /15 had 225/75r/15 factory i think with 3.73 would be at 2400 at 70 do you think it would help gas milage any

it gets old driving 65 though and at 75 it drops down to about 19-20 mpg.

hell, I'd kill for THAT at my average highway speed! I usually cruise around 75 too!
