On the 1996 XJ, 2 switches are listed,... a low pressure switch which appears to also function as the high pressure switch and an AC cycling switch. Where is the AC cycling switch located? Also, what are the testing procedures for both these switches?

Generally there is a low pressure switch on the accumulator and a high pressure switch by the compressor. The low pressure switch is what controls what we think of "cycling". The high pressure switch is more of a cut out switch if pressures get too high.

Both switches can be thought of normally closed, wired in series. With a complete circuit, the PCM can power with A/C clutch. If either switch opens, the PCM cuts power to the A/C clutch.

Low pressure switch generally opens around 25 psi and closes again around 35 psi. High pressure opens pretty high maybe 490 psi? I don't have the specs for 96.
