95 xj to 01 wj power steering pump upgrade.

I'd expect to swap the pump & reservoir as a unit - but then buying a new pump wouldn't occur to me, as much for lack of availability as cost.

Actually dumping the hydro-fan, in favour of the more traditional alternatives, seems quite popular but only, I suspect, if/when it fails.

As for the advantage in swapping a WJ pump into an XJ, we get back to them simply being easier to find - & newer/lower mileage.

Public service announcement. A 95 rhd uses a different pump than a lhd even though no place I looked made a distinction.

Curious, as there is no obvious reason - except, possibly, clearance for the fan.

Do happen to know how they are different?

Mine has open holes and and extra boss at the back, the one the parts books call for has threaded holes. I drilled out the threads and it fit.

Got me curious now. Come the weekend, weather permitting, I'll fish out my spare one & have a look.
