Hi guys having a bit of trouble with my 88.
It will start after a bit of cranking (it's been sitting for a while last ran a couple months ago) but it won't keep running. As soon as I let the key back from the start position to the run position it dies. Also the pump doesn't prime when you first turn the key on like it should. It seems to be running when it's in the crank/start position because otherwise it wouldn't keep starting over and over. I've started it around 10 times so it's obviously running when in the start position I figure.
I check the contacts on the ballast resistor and tried a spare and bypassing it with a wire and it still won't stay running or prime the pump.
I thought it bypassed the resistor when it was in the crank position but I could just be assuming things?
I'm going to get out there with the multimeter today but I thought some of you guys might have some ideas?
