I have a 2000 XJ, 4.0 auto, 230K miles. I had moved it to the back of my property when we had tree guys coming, and weeks later when I went to start it again, it would not go, it just turns over. since it was on a trail, and I thought it was the CPS, I left it all winter, and pulled the battery and threw it on a tender.
went back and did the CPS (Standard Motor Brand from RockAuto) and I did the TPS and IAC too for good measure (not very good scientific method, I know).
still cranks, no start. when I was cranking it, I noticed that it made the "your keys are in the ignition and the door is open" chime (not the "you just put the keys in but didn't start me yet" chime) when I stop cranking it, the chime stops. my 99 doesn't chime at all when cranking.
no CEL at all. don't know how to check spark on a coil-on-rail system
any ideas? any information needed?
