2" to 1 1/4" adapter question.....

i want to put a basket on my corolla for a weekend trip coming up. my basket is 2", so i will need to use an adapter. the hitch is only rated for 200lbs. does the adapter change any of the weight distribution since it will stick out further? anything else i should take into consideration?

it will be used to carry two loaded ice chests. 600 miles round trip.
