    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

This will be the last time I post on this thread. I can take critisicm, I can take pokes at my welding, The comment about grinding before I post pics made me angry. Theres a right way to criticize and a P4x4 way. Ask beezil, vintage and fullsize etc. Helpful suggestions that dont come off as "My...

    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

Are you done? Cuz I dont see any post where I said, "you dont know what the hell youre talking about" Funny thing about this "club", when I post a tech question about doing something, I get one or two responses, even after I do a "BTT". But when I post pics, all the critics come out and compare...

    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

actually the boxing consists of 7 pieces for the Passenger side. At each break it is welded to the frame and to each other. that sleeve aint going no where. There is so many odd curves and contours, it would never slide over as one piece. I can be ignorant and defensive all I want, Im on the...

    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

Maybe I stated it wrong. The bolts will go throught he outside, and the inner framrail will have a much thicker plate, it just wont be down the entire framerail. The way I see it, it will act like a plug except it travel all through the inside giving a plug at both ends as well as reinforcing...

    locker switchs: mounting ideas

BTW Ive never seen those switches. Are those the factory Rubi switches? I had at one time the rancho 9000 air-crap system on my Jeep. I mounted the gauge and two switches with airlines in the dash. Plenty of room back there for air fittings and such worked good and it was low enough that it was...

    locker switchs: mounting ideas

If you had an older Style XJ, I would say put them where the factory clock is. All radios these days have their own clock. So its kind of a useless item there. I was able to get all three there

    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

Terrie, I was fine with your post about Holy Crapwelds, I understand they are, I said they were rough and unfinished. But you seemed to want to provoke me with points about grinding them down first. If I had shot pics of them ground down, You and everyone else would say, wow thats cool lookin'...

    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

I see your point now. I didnt realize what you considered quality craftmenship. Did u get those oversized loose nuts from the lumber yard also? and the paint over rust? These wouldnt happen to be the same "sheet-metal" screws holding the rubber to your fender thats holding your skid...

    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

Now its bad craftmenship? I said it in the original post. its rough tacks, and filled areas. I did search your page and all I saw was a bolt-on ass Jeep from a guy who is president of his own fan club.

    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

Or maybe I should use wood screws to hold my fenders together. Maybe you havent used a welder before on thin stamped metal before, but if you leave it hot enough to puddle in the gap, it blows a hole in the unibody, thats why they were done in blotches, small one first then a larger one on top...

    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

In case youre hard of reading Ill post once more in CAPS THOSE ARE FILLS, THERE IS A 1/4" GAP BETWEEN THE TWO PLATES. If you know a better way to fill with a millermatic 210 please tell. You can see where there isnt any filling because the welds are nice.

    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

Leaf springs are all but gone, Yes it is stronger, its twice as thick as the stock unibody. No plug welds, thats a waste, I will run bolts through corresponding to the strips of 3/16" on the inner frame rails. Brake lines arent run yet And finally, like I said, its still rough and required...

    Boxed (Sleeved) Frame Progress

I finally finished one side of the frame boxing. It runs from the bumper mount to the Crossmember. Going to do some extra boxing between the trans crossmember and the rear 4-link crossmember If I get it done this weekend. Some of the welds are just tacked, and a lot of grinding still needs to be...

10ft of 2x4 .250 wall for $86.74 OTD 4'x4' 1/8" sheet $67.21 2'x2' 1/4" sheet $45.47 Last March: 4'x4' 1/8" sheet $37 4'x4' 1/4" sheet $51 We can all argue that there isnt a shortage, but if the market demands it, the price will stay up. Concrete is up a lot also here(NM). I needed to make...
