Everything you ever wanted to know about the AW4

Old motor had a cracked head. Converters are not plugged. We unbolted the exhaust. The jeep will not shift into third when I gas pedal is to the floor. If I let off a little it will shift into third. Something is preventing the jeep to accelaerate past 65.

Re: TRANSMISSION PROBLEM It throws a misfire code when I leave it there for awhile. Sometimes the jeep runs really bad after this. Like a plug is fouled. Let it sit and disconnect the battery then it runs better.

Re: TRANSMISSION PROBLEM Wouldn't it buck and jerk from fuel starvation. It feel like when it gets to 4500 and someone is holding the gas and brake at the same time. Motor sounds good just something holding it back. I've head camshaft timing at high RPM's can stall the motor too.

I think the misfire is because it won't go past 65. It's like its hitting a brick wall.

Re: Camshaft timing I can floor my jeep at 70 and I can get up to 95 and then I let off. I don't think its a fuel problem.

Everything you ever wanted to know about the AW4

I'm having a issue with my 01 jeep cherokee. Not sure if this is transmission related or its my new motor I recently got installed. My jeep shifts and runs good during normal driving but if I floor my jeep at 45 it will gain speed until I get to 65 and then it falls flat on its face. It doesn't...

Re: Camshaft timing Yes I have two accounts I couldn't remember my info for the 1993 account. What is a dizzy? Are you talking about the cam position sensor? I am not a mechanic. I didn't put the motor in.

    Cylinder Misfire code when floored

Re: TRANSMISSION PROBLEM Could this be camshaft timing being off. This is a High Performance Motor with a bigger cam ported heads. This motor screams until it hits 65.

    Cylinder Misfire code when floored

Re: TRANSMISSION PROBLEM Aftermarket but it didn't help. I recently had a motor put in. Not sure if its transmission or engine related. It like the motor falls flat on its face at 65. It's like something is preventing it to shift to the next gear. The transmission isn't doing anything because...

Re: TRANSMISSION PROBLEM Replaced the TPS and adjusted the cable by pushing the button and pushing the cable up to the button and then opening the throttle body to wide open and let it snap back to close. Is this correct?
