Would it be a good idea to put a bushing in the CAD shift fork to make the front axle's locked together all the time? The vacuum is unreliable, and a posi lok is $150. Is this a good idea?
the 4wd trans is shot. the oil was FULL of brass. the 2wd trans has 35,000 miles on it. he thought it would be easy to just swap the mainshafts and the rear housing.
I found a site with pic's and he just got it apart. The syncro's are wasted like we thought.
my friend with a 2wd ax-15, bought a used 4wd ax-15 so he could use the rear part of the trans and the mainshaft. We're having trouble getting this thing apart. Is there a manual anywhere on the net? or do you guys have some advice? This is all that stands in the way of him having his MJ...
Well it doesn't really matter to me now anyway. A few days after my last post the guy I was going to buy the XJ from backed out on me and I never got it. Then the wife changed her mind on me even getting a jeep. Since we already have 2 trucks and 2 cars, all my choice, she decided she gets to...
Jack up one tire, if you can turn it by hand it's shot. If you can turn it with the lug wrench, it's probably shot. Some guys at work took theirs apart and sandblasted the hell out of the clutches and plates and they do the rubicon with powr-lok's front and rear with out problems. If you want...
I'd just like to thank the rest of the country for voting for BUSH. Being a republican on the West Coast is like ****ing in the wind. I thought at least oregon would have gone to Bush. I guess all the tree huggers from here in CA migrated north. It sucked voting for Bush in CA since I knew...
Ok, I should have said I've already got a rear axle. An 8 3/4 mopar that's 61"s wide. Got that for $90. So I don't have to put that together yet, i can still drive around on the stock axle.
Alright I know I need to build some armor for my jeep first, and I'm in the process of doing that right now. But what should I do next? I've go money for new gears and a locker, or a 4.5 lift, or tires and wheels. Not enough right now for all 3. You guys have any suggestions on where to...
I found a 79 wagoneer in the junkyard today with an offset dana 44. It's a 3.54 open diff with a 6 lug bolt pattern. Is this even worth picking up for an XJ? It had the front axle too, but I didn't look at it real close. Just noticed it was a driverside drop. Is it worth $100 for each axle...
herculiner goes on REAL thin. I used it on some side steps for my truck, most of it came out ok, but one part tore and you can see it's real thin. I used 2 coats too. It's best to do it when it's warm outside. And once you open the can and mix it you better be fast, it dries in the can FAST!
Ford 9" is stonger? You tryin to start a ****ing match? I was just asking because his name is crazy4mopar. I think the 8 3/4 is just as good, if not better than the 9".
