I hate to bump this old thread but this problem is getting worse. For the last year there has been the occasional drip through the frame rails as shown above but not much more. Yesterday after a long drive I was filling up with gas and noticed oil pouring out through these holes leaving a pool...
I realised that US spec cars used to have speedos that went to 85 mph (my old '82 DeLorean had one), but I thought by 1997 or later xjs they would be the same in all countries that used mph. Obviously not. Out of interest, do current 2011 cars in the US still have low reading speedos?
A couple of updates. I've put a 12v power outlet in the rear so that I can plug in my coolbox on camping trips. I used a VW part but it's a match for the outlet on the dashboard on the Jeep. Ran it straight from the battery and it's a permanent live. Works great.
Picked up some tail-light...
When I bough my Jeep - a '99 with a 242 case - it was difficult to shift back into 2wd from full time 4wd. One front tyre was new and one was half worn. Since then I have replaced all four tyres and it shifts in and out of 4wd no problem.
Yeah, it was built in the US. As far as I know, all XJs came from the same factory. As they're on the build sheet I guess that means they were added at the factory.
