drivers door switches only work on accessory mode

First off... a very sincere "Thank you!" for the help and advice. I was really lost on where to start. I finally got around to changing it out today and that fixed it for me. (Although my drivers side motor is really straining so I think I'll have to replace that at some point in the near...

drivers door switches only work on accessory mode

Gotcha, it should be here this weekend and I'll switch it out and see what happens.

drivers door switches only work on accessory mode

maybe? how can I check this without replacing the ignition switch? I'm not totally sold on it because when I've had switches fail before, they tend to do so gradually (so you can turn it slowly or manipulate it around and get a connection) but this was working one day and then not. I checked...

drivers door switches only work on accessory mode

Hey guys, it's been several years since I really messed with my XJ much beyond the occasional drive to keep it moving and lubricated. But now I have a weird problem and need some help diagnosing: 1999 4door classic - all the functions on the drivers door switch have stopped working. no...

    NP 231

Does your original steel fork show any signs of wear or rubbing that might help diagnose? Does it still have the plastic wear pads intact? If it doesn't have any wear shown then I would think its pretty unlikely to be the culprit. I went the other way on my 99, I had the case open to replace...

Wow that is a really great write up on the install. Nicely documented and explained with the accompanying photos.

    RE 4.5 spring problem?

yes, pics might help. couple of other things if the rear axle removal doesn't point the way or you have 'gottagetdonitis'. I dont know what else you did but are both of your spring perches sitting fully/properly centered? I seem to recall I had to enlarge the hole in the spring pad for the pin...

    RE 4.5 spring problem?

Couple of stupid questions... 1 did you put the shims in correctly or backwards? What is your driveshaft angle with the shims in? 2- did you loosen or remove your driveshaft while doing this? Is it still tight 3- are your wheels/lugs on tight ? Are they properly seated?

    Questions on moving

Wherever you move to, you might also want to look at medical device manufacturing jobs. Not great wheeling and i personally wouldn't move there but take a look at Warsaw, Indiana and any of the larger companies (Zimmer, Stryker, biomet, etc.) or any of the job shops that support them. I don't...

    LOOKING FOR SOME DOOR ADVICE

You've probably tried this but the drivers door "master" switch module is notoriously prone to failure and it takes all the other windows and locks with it. Try replacing your switch module in the door if you haven't already. There's also a couple of threads on putting in a jumper wire that...

    why sye's ?

A few years ago i put on the complete 4.5 RE lift and hadn't initially planned to do the SYE ,driveshaft and shims.....one drive from the shop about 40 miles away to the house cured me of that notion. On my 99 (231, auto, 8.25 rear) the vibrations and noise were headache-inducing, I couldn't...

    My JCR DIY front bumper

Man, I REALLY like how low that winch sits in the bumper, doesn't block the airflow or anything. That actuallly looks like it sits much lower than the older style JCR winch bumper. I'm still kinda kicking myself for going with the non-winch bumper and getting the hitch mount, at the time I never...

Shim degree for SYE with 4.5'' lift kit

I have the RE 4.5" superflex lift, Tom Woods shaft, SYE and I needed 6* shims to get it right. Tedious because the first time I had put in the 4* and it wasn't enough so I had to go back and redo it.

    Steering gurus needed

Guys I need some help with steering. My junk: 99, 4.5" RE superflex kit, adjustable track bar, rugged ridge tie rod and drag link setup, 4" drop pitman arm, JCR steering box reinforcement, wheel spacers on stock rims. Pretty basic. I have no bump steer at all but there are a few things I...

New Aussie Locker installed in a Chrysler 8.25

I've had mine both front and rear Aussies with 4.56 gears for about 18 months on 32's. The performance difference is just ridiculous, VERY happy with that. Easily the best bang-for-the-buck upgrade you can do to your vehicle. Nothing much to complain about, but I do hear the inside tire...

Mysterious Whine... mechanic is stumped. Any Ideas?

My 99 has a similar type whine under acceleration, I also thought it was the rear end until I replaced everything with F/R lockers and new bearing install. Then the AA SYE kit and woods rear driveshaft. I know what you mean because it really sounds like it's coming from the rear end under...

Front Fender Trim Write Up (Retaining the stock flare)

Yeah I agree that if I had it to do over again I'd use a jigsaw but I was reasonably careful and it looks acceptable.....especially since it's covered up by the flares. Looking at the cutoff portions I was pretty shocked at how symmetrical they ended up (especially since it was all done by the...

Front Fender Trim Write Up (Retaining the stock flare)

I got the files from Seiler a few months ago but I just did the front trim job yesterday. It's a pretty straightforward concept but when you're about to turn the angle grinder loose onto a still pretty good looking XJ the pdf's certainly helped a lot with planning. As always, it took twice as...

    Prep for a SYE.

I would just add that you should also seriously consider getting a new shift fork and possibly chain if you haven't replaced them already. The plastic pads on the shift fork are probably worn out or have fallen off and since you'll be in there now is the time to replace them. (and my son...
