2000 4.0l 138k when you set the cruise control cruising down highway you can feel the jeep surging, and see the rpm needle moving. If you arent in cruise and just hold a steady foot on pedal then it is fine, What could this be?
I totally agree with comanchedude, as long as you have oil pressure and your engine isnt knocking than dont worry about it, just add lucas when your oil gets changed. So many people are so quick to say "no oil pressure, time for an engine swap" as long as it runs good and you have oil pressure...
I just replaced the head on my jeep, you'll need the head gasket set, you can reuse the bolts once but for the cost i replaced mine, put in a new thermastat while your at it and definately have your head checked by a good machinist. they can also put in new stem seals and check valve seats. but...
So replacing the rod and main bearings will help, i can have a mechanic buddy do it fairly resonably and will put the money into the main and rod bearings but having to spent the labor to pull the engine and replace cam bearings isnt going to happen, i've got my money out of the jeep and dont...
Resale is also based alot on local markets, if you live in an area around where i live there is a few at every local dealership. In my area you could only get about 4,300 or 4,800 if it has no problems.
I used to put together police cars by trade and i always drilled a 3/4" hole in the roof and used a grommet with little fingers in it and have NEVER had one leak, and put a good silicone to seal it all up. Run the wires in loom through the hole (put some silicone in loom at hole to) and it wont...
So everyone knows background, had a cracked head and didnt catch it soon enough that is i'm sure what is causing the issue. I've tried differant things like putting heavier oil in and it helps but is just a band aid, thicker oil is not fixing my bearings. I use a mopar filter and will replace...
Hoping someone could clear some confusion on my part. My 2000 xj has consistantly low oil pressure (around 5psi hot idle, 20psi cruising) my ? is would just replacing the main bearings help and prolong the life of my 4.0 or do the cam bearings have to be replaced. If replacing the main bearings...
So a FRAM tough guard is alright then, and no i dont use syn oil, I use whatever is abundand at the local parts store, sometimes pennzoil sometimes havoline.
I've used fram filters combined with pennzoil for years and have 136k on my jeep so far no problems. oil and filters seems just like car brands, everyone has there favorites.
I read all kinds of threads on the cracking head issue and am putting a 0331 head back on because I have one off a rolled YJ and i personally think that it is not as big a deal as the people make of it. I have 136k on mine and i bought it new in 99 so i know its never been touched before. You...
First post one this forum, hopefully you guys can help. I have a 2000 sport 4.0l, the other day it overheated on the way home from work. let it cool down for a while and added some coolant started back home (about 5 miles) and just about 1/2 mile into the CEL came on and started acting funny, i...
