    Waiting for parts rant

I am usually a patient person when it comes to receiving parts for my XJ. I am currently waiting for my Currie steering to come from fed-ex. It was supposed to come today and I have been tracking it thru their website. I look on there today and it says unable to find recipient; wtf? I call them...

    Dry axle seal??????

I'll keep looking for the source of the noise. Thanks for confirming that it shouldn't be the axle seals. They are not leaking (yet) so I'll let them be for now. I need to call the owner of the shop and see what is up with that explanation.

    Dry axle seal??????

I took my 97 XJ to the shop today to check on noise coming from my front driver side wheel area. It is a scrap/swoosh sound that happens even when the brakes are applied. They told me that it was a "dry axle seal" and they see it all the time in XJ's. They shot some grease in there and said it...

My first ever major project on my 99 XJ...

I am no sort of master auto technician, but after lifting my jeep with OME/DPG suspension kit, I needed a SYE. Dirk at DPG Offroad was/is the most helpful person on anything Jeep. I had the vibes and noises after 3" lift, which is very common on 97-01 XJ. Installed SYE and shims with new...

I too have recently finished lifting my XJ. I have a 97 w/3" OME lift kit. I am saving up for my new tires, and going with...

    Messed up Hack and Tap

I finally got that little sucker out of there. I took a Christmas vacation, and left the repair alone for a week. This gave me new energy, and the focus to get out that f-ing broken tap. After tons of research and many different failed attempts (tap xtractor, left hand drill bits, etc...), I...

    Messed up Hack and Tap

Thanks for the response bmyohn. What year's are the XJ's? I might just go with the HD shaft upgrade, since I have to split the case anyway, but I might check out some other parts from JB's

    Messed up Hack and Tap

I can't take a measurement of the DS right now cuz its sitting in my buddy's garage awaiting it's fate. It wanted to go in yesterday and go for a spin :looney: but it is just sitting there all lonely. When I ordered it I gave the measurement from my OEM DS from u-joint to u-joint and it was...

    Messed up Hack and Tap

sorry no pics, I broke off the tap and just broke two sets of flutes on the tap extractor. That broken tap is maybe broke inside the hole so that it just wont turn out. I have tapped before so I thought this would be a breeze, but it is just my luck. I got the hack and tap to avoid splitting...

    Messed up Hack and Tap

 As the title states, I screwed up the install of my RE hack and tap, and I need a new (used) output shaft. If anyone just has one lying around after their HD upgrade, could you help me out. I live in area code 47403 and will pay for shipping. I have a 97XJ Sport w/ 3"OME lift , np231...

Please help, hack and tap issues

Thanks for the ideas. I did use some lubricant, but I think I just got a little ahead of myself with the tapping. I have tapped some before, but usually they were smaller in size. I will pm you about the tailshaft, thanks.:peace:

Please help, hack and tap issues

I am trying to install a RE hack and tap and broke off the tap. Everything was going smoothly until the tap broke off half way in the splined shaft:dunce: . I could have started crying, but my buddy assured me that someone else has probably done this. After doing a search I have discovered...

    coil spring spacer

Installing a 3" OME lift with coil springs and spacers that came in the kit, and was told to put the spacer in between the body and the coil isolator. My question is how does this (coil iso.) come off? It is attached to the bump snubber, but I can't see how it is attached to the body. I have...

New Lift Kit Instal - Holy Crap!

hey sjx40250 (and anyone else out there doing the leaf spring upgrade thing) I just had a fun time trying to get mine out. I had the same old problems with the bolt rusting to the sleeve of the bushing, and I had to cut them out with sawzall. I also broke the rear shackle to frame nut from it's...
