I only want to go up 1"....

Ok, let's try a different angle. In your guys experience, whose full length AAL nets the least lift? Best ride? -OR- What 2" or 2-1/2" AAL should I use if I want to leave out one of the stock leaves (to try and get down to the 1")? I'm serious about holding the lift to 1", but looks like I'll be...

That's why I don't really want to go with shackles either. From what I've read here, they also soften the ride and the springs will be affected over time. I'm really thinking the short AAL. Nobody has told me (and I can't find) why they would be bad for my application. I'm not sagged now, so...

I only want to go up 1"....

Trust me, I'm listening! Ok, how about using the next longest leaf out of a stock pack and cutting it down to go between the 2nd and 3rd leaf on my pack? I found a post talking about using that spring along with the longest to get over 2", so I started thinking if I put just that spring in I...

I only want to go up 1"....

Thanks, I had found that before I started posting and found it infromative, but: 1) It doesn't really state how the stiffer coil springs "improved" the ride (maybe he means handling). He compares the ride to the OME kit (and I know from what I've read that that kit is highly regarded) which I do...

Certainly everyone here holds the RE kits in high regard, and sure, I guess a part of me would be ok with 30's. But considering gas mileage, road holding, ride, COST and personal LABOR (I know the AAL and spacers are relatively qucick and easy), I want to keep it cheap, comparatively low, simple...

    Ok, so I bought a new(er) jeep....

The amount of local interest with "0" advertising leads me to believe I could of asked more. I've had several "kids" drooling on it, and they were happy to pay the price if I could accept payments. The only guy who tried to beat me up on the price was arrogant and rude. His kid, who it was for...

    Ok, so I bought a new(er) jeep....

After careful consideration, I decided to ask $1,200 for it, and you were right I did not get $1,000 for it. After being for sale for a total of 6 days I sold it to a good home for $1,150.00!

Less than $100 and stock shocks are part of what I have in mind. The problem with the typical 2" BB is that it doesn't look right without 30's. Look at the picture of my 90 (for sale by the way), to my eye, 1" looks perfect with 29" tall tires....Maybe a picayune point, but not much is uglier...

I only want to go up 1"....

You guys are great! But I think you can see the dilemna, I know everything is a trade off.... I want to keep it simple, so I would prefer not to replace the entire spring pack. I want to kep it cheap, even if I accepted that a 3" lift is safe, I don't off road, so I can't see spending money on...

I only want to go up 1"....

Ok, I have a 90 2-dr that had a 1” sag going in the back and I wanted just a little more clearance for some 235/75/15’s. So I took Eagle’s advice and put a full length Rancho AAL in back and a 1” coil spacer out front. This evened out to a lift 1” all the way around and over 4 years later, it...

noise from transfer case area-service bulletin?

thanks, anybody else want to venture that the problem I described is the linkage? The rattle when stopped is obvious enough, I'm more concerned about the noise while moving. In addition to what I've already described, it does change pitch with the slightest movement of the lever.....

noise from transfer case area-service bulletin?

I very recently bought a 2000 ltd. from a reputable used car dealer here in NH. I am very happy with it, but if you listen very closely when cruising along under no load, you can hear a "rattling" kind of sound eminating up from the transer case area, almost a loose chain sound (not saying the...

    Ok, so I bought a new(er) jeep....

We'll see who's laughing after I get my grand for it! I've seen junk go for as much or more in this area, anything here that looks good, runs and has working 4 wheel drive goes for a grand. This truck has many, many new and recent parts, chrome wheels, AAL, coil spacers, recent 235/75 Dunlop...

    Ok, so I bought a new(er) jeep....

Ok, I've kinda decided against it as most repairs would fall under that cost and I usually have credit available in that amount that could be used anytime. I am a little nervous about the head issues on the 2000's but I did not see any oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil, and I otherwise...

    Ok, so I bought a new(er) jeep....

Awhile ago, I asked what to look for in a 97 or newer jeep (thanks for the input). So I am purchasing a 2000 limited, Patriot Blue with Camel leather, 92k miles, for $7,995 out the door. It is a very reputable dealer, as far as used car dealers go, and they are offering me a 2 year/24,000 mile...
