This has been our most recent project cars. 3 of the past 5 have been picked up by our group members. (fourWheelFriends.com) No one has the room or the $$$ right now so we're making it available to the general public. I've listed the Craigslist ad to save time writing out everything here, It's...

Thanks for your interest.
After placing a rather large dimple in my front diff on John Bull trail, I started looking for some additional protection for my front dif. I was surprised that I couldn't find a ready made kit to fit mine so out came the metal working tools and here is what I came out with:
Should help...
All parts are from a 1990 XJ.
All are in good condition and painted a textured flat black, with the exception of the lights. They are all OEM parts.
$100.00 for all.

When I need to replace the seal on my rear axle, must I always destroy the sleeve and the bearing in order to remove the leaky seal? :gonnablow
Is there some kind of puller that at least can save the bearing?
Thanks in advance,
Fred

Both my driver's side and passenger's side door have started rubbing at the top front. You can see where the paint had chipped off by the rubbing in these pictures.
Obviously the uni-body is flexing somewhere in the front. I have several modification to this vehicle that have added...
I have a 90 XJ with the older 6 blade auxiliary electric fan. I am wondering if anyone knows if the newer 10 blade and it's housing will fit in replacement. The 10 blade is about a 1/2 inch larger in diameter, however I think, (hope) that there is no difference in the outside dimensions so the...
With the modified header/exhaust system I made to clear the 9" Currie high pinion front axle, I'm facing a problem of the fuel lines over heating the gas and causing a vapor lock and as an additional issue, pre-detonation (once the fuel has really warmed up) due to the extra heat/ possible...
It seems most of the mods in this forum involve upgrades either for rock crawling or for Jeep Speed fast desert driving.
While my XJ can crawl well and go fast, I'm more inclined to make the mods for long exploring trips involving possibly hundreds of miles off pavement.
With that in mind...
I've had this happen a few times now and wondering if anyone else has had the same experience and if so what they did about it.
On a steep climb it appears that the ATF slides to the rear of the pan enough that my pump only sucks air and I end up with a failure of the trans to move the...
Has anyone experience with the installation of a high pinion Ford 9" front axle in their XJ?
I've installed one and am having loads of problems with routing the exhaust. :flamemad:
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Fred

Death Wobble started up again, I isolated it to the track bar bracket on the axle side.
It appears that the bolt had worked itself loose and now has elongated the hole on the inner side.
What a mess!
Beside all the work to cut the welds remove the bracket then re-weld on a new one anyone...
My friend just purchased this Jeep.
At first glance it looks like it could be a XJ but it's model year is a 1972. He's picking it up in Salt Lake Cuty this week end and trailering it back to LA.
Thanks,
Fred

It Saturday and because it's a three day weekend it will probably be Tuesday before anyone at Bilstein will be answering their phone to get anm answer. You guys have always been a good source of information in the past.
I'm installing Bilstein 7100 shocks in the front of my 90 XJ. Because the...
We've brought Jason's 98 XJ that was rolled on Dishpan Spring to it's final resting place. We'll start this evening with the disassembly process. Those interested in any of it's part let me know and I'll connect you with Ryan who is coordinating the sale...
Ordered some of these with my new Currie 9" front axle. Went to install them and discovered what appears to be that they are too long.
The spline is seated in the diff as I can move the output shart and the axle solidly moves.
There is just no room for the uni-bearing to seat with the...
With the latest breakdown it's time to upgrade the front axle.
Advice from this forum has always been helpful and now it's time for all you XJ xperts to help.
I have a 1990 Cherokee with the following drive train modifications.
1. 4.6 Golen Stroker 290 HP, 300 lbs torque.
2. Stock auto...
Has anyone else experienced this before and if so, how did you remedy it?
My 1990 Xj with an auto trans has now on a few occasions suffered a power loss on a very steep climb.
Twice in Moab on a steep climb all of a sudden forward motion stopped while the engine maintained it's rpm. I backed...
