I've searched and not found. So why is it that 17 inch wheels have gotten so popular? Is there a performance advantage? I am looking to get new tires and wondering if I should get the 17" version and save for some wheels. Thanks for your opinions.

I picked some up at Sports Authority. I wanted to get two or four, but they only had them in 12 packs. So I have eight to get rid of. They were $15 for the dozen, but you guys can have em for $1 each. I'll be at the Chinaman Shakedown if you want to get them there.
