I'll write up a medical waiver for all of that mind set right now, and have it signed. Do not E.R. Do Not Resuscitate. Do Not Pay For My Stupidity. _______________________
then she can do what she likes without worrying about the rest of us footing the bill.
Not that Bill... Sicko.
I defected from The XJ owners club in march. my 89 5 speed tore through the front transmission bearing (still the peugot beast) and it became S.E.P. (someone else problem, According to Douglas Adams).
Got a 97 Nissan Pathfinder.
Things I miss: The jeep was quick, I saw up to 22 mpg on the...
We had one of these in my 89 4.0 recently.
Might i suggest go ahead and pull the ECU (just above the gas pedal) and probe c14 and c15 for ground. i think that's the ground. they're both black.
Mine was disconnected from the ground junction just above the oil filter on the passenger side of...
Lockers - a diff lock, as you put it, ties the wheels on an axle together. it allows both to put down power at all times.
Locking hubs, on the other hand, are a way of disconnecting the wheels from the driven rotating assembly of the drivetrain for street use.
they're not the same.
If your...
Ok fellas, found it.
had one of the grounds at the pass side of engine block come loose.
turns out it's the 2 grounds from the PCM.
Yeah, that'll throw things all out of wack.
Thanks for the help!
Sam.
ug. next time, it's spare parts for all!
have i ever mentioned here that i think an engineers hell is to become a technician???
Maybe with our powers combined, my jeep can once again be soemthing other than a paperweight!
thanks MapleDitch
Good call to check there too. thanks Gasman.
if it weren't for the freaking tires... i'd have just driven it to the junk yard when the clutch and motor mounts went out!!!
I believe what my tech, Eric, called those wires was "unholy mess". sounds about right, no?
bulk head connector... i expect you mean the mass junction on the firewall, yes??? I'll do both first thing tomorrow.
p.s. fuel pressure is steady, if i remember, 35 or 39.
Oh... yeah... I have also replaced the crap firewall to engine ground and tested the rest of the battery cabling and found resistance to be acceptable.
theres a new starter motor too (the old one liked to click sometimes in leu of starting) to start the begging for.
At the end of my rope. Currently, My 89 cherokee has a new:
In the past few months:
Clutch
Pressure Plate
slave cylinder
throw out bearing
set of Dueler Revo tires
And in keeping with the spirit of throwing good money after bad:
Crank Position Sensor
copper champion truck plugs
ground strap...
just after i had my clutch in my 89 replaced, i got wicked bad clutch chatter when beginning in 1st or reverse.
Didn't do the flywheel, and i've just had it redone for the 2nd time in 9 months. the motor mounts and transmission (spendy) mount were also shot, helping the clutch to tear the hell...
I hate to replace 2 parts. the customers hate it. but do yourself a favor, and replace the blower motor at the same time. resistor packs don't fail for no reason. Next, the blower motor will start to squeal when cold.
Otherwise, you get to replace the resistor again in 6 months... and...
you see, fellas my 89 has never had much affinity for maintaining its keys while running. I've found it to be convenient to be able to pull my keys out to check the mail box or clip my nails while waiting at a stop light..
interesting, some people would complain about that.
i say enjoy!
my 89 did this kind of thing shortly after i bought it... for mine, it turned out to be the junction point just aft of the battery under the junction cover.
From the battery, there should be 1 heavy wire going direct to the starter, and one to the junction.
yeah... electric gremlins are the...
In all my times of being behind a MK 19, i never had one work quite right... thank heavens it was never needed...
the Ma Duce, on the other hand... Oh man... guess what i want for home security...
just kidding...
I don't miss being in the sandbox. It is good to know there are smart people...
any parts store will sell a vent de-funk-ify kit... you spray it in through the vents under the windshield. did it on an Audi at work, and it works awesome. i don't remember what the brand name was... but they will know what you're asking about, i expect.
