    Winch one?

We were concerned about the heating issue when considering going over to synthetic. We tried 9 ways to Sunday to try to getthe drum of an M8000 to heat up. Only way was when the brake is engaged: when you're winching backwards (out), under load - so the brake is forced against the drum...

    Winch one?

Abrasion of synthetic line is not as much of an issue as many would think. It's used in the logging industry in applications that cause 3/8" line to look like a sheep on a Van de Graaf, but it maintains its strength just the same. It will 'cut' however, and having a slip-fitted anti-abrasion...

    New guy

Beware these guys/gals. If you're not careful, they'll do very bad things to your pocketbook and your XJ. I remember when I first got my '98 and this group 'had their way with her'. It was not a pretty sight! Now, that was way back when "NAXJA" was just a twinkle in a few owners' eyes -...

    C4X4 rock slider attachment?

Front are self-tapping into the side of the frame-rail. Rear is nut and bolt through the rear spring hanger. You can put a nut on the bottom of the two front bolts - there's a hole in the frame rail that will allow you to fit a lock washer & nut so that you can minimize the risk of pulling the...

Where to put amp so it doesnt get stolen

Re: Where to put amp so it doesnt get stolen ...in your hourse; in the basement; in a fireproof safe; buried in concrete. It doesn't matter where else you put it. If someone wants to steal it, it'll be gone.

    locker vs. locker

.....mine was just broken after 1,000 miles. But Richmond Gear did give me a new one under warranty. Guess it takes some people longer than others to get used to the workings of an auto-locker.

    No-Slip not engaging

Had the same thing happen on mine about 2 months ago. Richmond Gear shipped me a new locker. Customer communication and service were pathetic. It's not a company that I'll deal with in the future - except for future warranty work or replacement of their "no-slip" locker. Once they're out of...

    Sipes on Mud-Terrains?

Chris S.'s analysis is bang on, IMO. I emphasize his caveat that mud-terrain tires, even siped, don't measure up to a quality AT or winter tire for ice traction. The auto-siping machines have a habit of getting a sipe too close to the edge of the lugs, making them vulnerable to chunking...

OLD MAN EMU Lift, Formula. Will it work

To save some of your Combat Zone Savings - lose the JKS upper control arms;the MSD ignition;headers/exhaust and snorkel. Not sure why you feel the need for an "improved" radiator. My '98's stock radiator does a good job at cooling the engine. Get a tranny cooler instead. Get YJ brake-lines...

    Moving to SNOW......What Tires

I keep a separate set of summer tires/wheels (BFG MT KM's), and use the BFG AT KO's only in the winter for mountain highway driving. I still get off-road with the AT's occasionally, as I don't always have time to change over. I've run the Pirelli Scorpion AT's as my "snow tires". They're...

    OME springs

Get the 934's. Sell the 930's and the JC2A's (or exchange them). Keep the JC1A rears and add the JCXL full-length add-a-leaf, along with at least an MJ shackle in the rear. The spring-rate of the JC1A is the same as the JC1B; the JC1A just has a little more arc to the spring pack (~1" more...

    OME springs

I had the 930's, but the spring rate wasn't up to the C4x4 winch bumper and Warm M8000 (with steel cable) weight up front. I was constantly on the bumpstops on descents, or through obstacles. With the 934's the spring-rate is ideal.

    front sway bar...why?

....without the anti-sway bar it's not the first swerve that'll do you in, it's the second.... .....have a kid on a skateboard, or chasing a ball, come out in front of you and you'll be able to avoid them, but without the anti-sway bar, getting back into your own lane before you have a head-on...

    XJ lift questions

?? :sure: In my experience OME is one of the more durable suspensions available. If you've got sag (meaning: "the suspension's fallen and it can't get up") then you've got a warranty claim. ARB is phenomenal when it comes to honouring OME warranty claims. Obviously, if you buy the JC1B's...

    31's or 33's???? I need help!

I just changed over to 4.10's from the stock 3.55's (31" tires on 15x7 wheels) - it's GREAT to have the acceleration back again! Didn't really miss it these last 2 years with the 3.55's, but now that I've got the 4.10's I can really feel a difference. Haven't yet had it off-road, but can't...

Who has pieced there suspension together?

Lots of people run "custom" suspensions. More do that than buy a complete kit in my neck of the woods. I have OME JC1A's, JCXL's, 934's, OME LT shocks, 2" coil spacers, Rusty's greaseable shackles, JKS adj trackbar, JKS disco's, YJ brake-lines, Rusty's adj LCA's....with the steel bumpers/tire...
