6'3" 280#. As blue95xj said, lean back a little more than usual. Been wanting to redo the seat track to gain a little more leg room. With that said I do a 3 hour drive every couple of weeks, no problem.
Home depot has velcro staps about 1.25 inches wide with an eyelet on the end. I think they are for wrapping up electric cords. Been working for me for almost 2 years now.
I've carried a reinhart/fajen laminated stock for 7-8 year with just an oil finish with no signs of delaminating. RichP the rem 600 with a scout scope and some rasp work on the stock (see ruger frontier)makes for the best deer rifle i've ever owned
There is a small opening in the factory mount. you can get maybe a finger in there. The wire trick works. Broke all four bolts on mine and got new ones in that way. Patience.....

Not sure what the box is. Standard trailer wiring green is right turn and brake light on trailer. The box may be the interface for the turn signal and brake light.Sounds like that is where your problem lies.
