    Slippery Tires (?)

Not sure if this belongs in modified tech or oem tech, but I've got a set of 31x10.5xr16 goodyear mtr's on my `92 cherokee. I bought them used roughly 3 years ago and have put roughly 5k on them every year since. Recently, they've gotten *SLIPPERY* in the wet, to the point that I`m not...

NP231 SYE Output Shaft Nut Size

Year is a `92. I figured there'd be some oil in it, hoping that it wouldnt drain 1/2 the case to pull the tail cone.

NP231 SYE Output Shaft Nut Size

I've been searching around and found one set of install instructions that say it's a 1-1/8" nut. Can anyone confirm that? Also - I may or may not split that was this weekend. First plan is to pull the tail cone and make sure that it's note the rail not being cut down. Do I need to drain the...

NP231 SYE Output Shaft Nut Size

Ever since I installed a SYE kit, I haven't been able to shift into 4wd. I did cut down the shift rail shaft, and I`m convinced that this isn't the problem, so this weekend I`m going to crack it open and start sorting it out. Unfortunately - someone recently broke into my car and stole...

    Swap out D44 for D35?

Have you thought about an 8.25? Plenty stronger than the d35.. haven't checked to compare ground clearances. When I swing by for the brake petal we can throw a tape on mine if you want.

    replacing 260 u-joints with 5-297 u-joints

Don't mean to high-jack the thread - but I'll be heading out to the yard's soon to grab some of these shafts. What's the best way to tell on the spot if the hub is good? Any maintanence to do on these before reinstalling them?

Is my tire pressure way too low?

I brought my rig in for a tire rotation (city life sucks) and they sent me home with 65 PSI! I could feel something was wrong because every pebble was jarring. This was on 31x10.5 mtr's.

    Drop Bracket Install

On the back of the stock brackets there was a little tab on mine (92 XJ) towards the bottom of the bracket. I ground off these tabs to help the brackets sit closer to flush, but still have a gap similar to yours. I'd be VERY sure that there's no gap at the bottom where the stock alignment shims...

    Drop Bracket Install

I installed mine this past weekend and didn't jack anything at all. I had jack stands under the frame constantly (just in case) and the front wheels blocked.

    broken shackle weld nut

I know this is an old thread, but I just blew out my welds this weekend... Rather than accessing it from the bottom, as the pic above shows, is it possible to access it from the rear (with the bumper off)? It seems like this sheetmetal would be less important than the sheet metal for the bottom...

    Another drop bracket issue

I just went through this same problem last night... I was installing RE drop brackets and braces. I put the alignment shim into the drop bracket, just enough to start a nut on each of the alignment shim bolts, then pulled it forward and rotated it down. I lined up the hole in the contol arm with...

Single Handed Re Drop Bracket Install

So I was planning on installing some RE Drop Brackets (and other misc goodies) this weekend, but unfortunately my helping hands just bailed out on me. I live in an apartment in downtown DC and don't have my own garage, but have a friend who is willing to let me use theirs for the weekend...

    RE Drop Install Question

Rogersjeep - So you just left the weight on the spring, (blocked the tire, I assume) and unbolted both control arms? This is what I was planning - glad to hear it worked for someone.

    RE Drop Install Question

So next weekend I plan on installing a set of RE drop brackets and braces onto my 92 XJ. I've read everything there is to read around here, and read RE's instructions, but still have an outstanding question. The second instruction is to "Properly support vehicle by frame allowing front axle to...

Anybody? Distance from the outside of your fender flares to the outside of your 33?

    budget boost install

My BB didn;t come with any install instructions, hence the questions here. I like what you're saying Fitch.. think I'll do it that way. If nothing else putting the stock isolator below the budget boost may help cut down on noise and squeaks, etc.

Tire Size & Horizontal Clearance to Flares

I've tried searching for some information on this, but all I can find are threads about how much lift you need for what tire size and vertical clearance, trimming, etc. Heres my questions - I'm moving on up to bigger tires soon, but I can't find any state laws (washington, dc) about tires vs...

    budget boost install

A photo's worth a thousand words. Thanks Yucca x1,000 In your link you posted you disco the rear U-bolts. That is only because you're adding a leaf and does not need to be done for shackle lift only... correct? Or would taking this step make it significantly easier to get everything lined up...

    budget boost install

The way I was thinking about it - The spacers would do under the bump stops so that the BS's would still be useful. If I put the spacers over/around the BS, wouldn't that make them essentially useless? x2 on JKS disco's

    budget boost install

I'm going to be doing this soon and my outstanding question is with the front bumpstops... I believe the coil spacers go in above these, but what's holding these in place? I think I read somewhere you need a plumbers wrench to twist the whole thing out. Otherplaces make it sound like theres a...
