I replaced my original '97 cat recently... it should have been turned in during the recall, but I was overseas. It's all broken loose inside and clunks like a can of rocks.
I don't know anything about value of these things. Does it still have a scrap value over the price of gas to get it to...
For a regular, non-powered antenna you don't have to take the fender off. Just pull the rubber/plastic wheel well guard and you can reach up in there to do what you have to. Not sure if this applies though as I don't know how the motor mechanism is hooked up under there. So this post was no...
I found a 98 online at a local junkyard.. I have a 97..
Are there any differences in the body between the two years?
It has mud flaps that I want, are there any differences in 98 vs 97 in the mud flap nether region?
I also need the bracket that holds the back passenger bumper moulding onto...
I cut a square out around each bolt from the floor above. Only cut 3 sides of the square and bent it back.. put a new bolt in and welded it down. Then make sure to use anti-seize when you put the nuts on. I believe they are only torqued to 17 ft-lbs on the top.
So I tried the thicker gear oil for a few days. Syphoned off the oil I put in only 2 months ago and it was pretty black, added new 80-140.. Still was making too much noise for my comfort so got another rear end and dropped the one that was in. Pulled off the cover and there was quite a bit of...
The build sheet for my original diff says "DSAP Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle"
Does this mean it's Trac Loc? Or just limited slip? Trac loc isn't mentioned in my build sheet.
My Jeep came with a limited slip Dana 35, but I noticed some of a tooth or two on the ring gear were broken off so I just swapped axles with an open Dana 35 from a salvage yard.
Now my swapped rear end is making a lot of noise. I've found another Dana 35 for a reasonable price. All 3 are...
Cool, thanks. I actually still have my old Dana 35, though water got it in over the last probably 8 years since I took it out. I may try opening it and see what shape it's in. Then rebuild it myself (I'm pretty handy). And use the thicker gear oil till then. I always get a nagging feeling...
I get a clunk every now and again (not u-joint) and it's making a growling that gets worse with speed.. It's a Dana 35 on a '97 xj.. It's not the original as I swapped it maybe 80k ago with a junk yard pull..
Jeep is just my hunting/fishing, taking dogs on walks, and going to Lowe's.. so don't...
I had the same problem.. sent that one back and got a different brand.. same issue.. what worked is pushing it in/out like 100 times and it finally caught.. Definition of insanity, but it worked. Your mileage may vary.
