Fusion and other paints might work too well, especially with older rigs where you don't want the flares to look shiny shiny. Duplicolor I believe makes 'bumper plastic paint' (or similar name) that's designed to paint this sort of hard semi-porous plastic. I used some about 6 months ago on TJ...

FWIW (minor point), some shackles do indeed make contact with the rear bumper bolts... the ones facing in, four on each side. They quite obviously did on mine when I was running the stock rear bumper with the OEM bolts.

Another vote for Duplicolor spray on bed liner. The gritty appearance also covers imperfections, drips, scratches, etc. Easier to lay than spray paint too.

I had some of those Ranchos on my TJ for a couple of years and they worked just fine; stronger than the tubular arms they replaced. However, you should remove them and check the bushings from time to time. The inner steel crush sleeve or insert (whatever it's called) in mine started to stretch...

Thanks guys. I'm leaning towards the cable explanation. I think when I first bought it almost 2 years ago I recall the hood release being difficult. I must've lubed it or something.

Is there something more obvious than adjusting the little screw-in stops that I'm missing? Having trouble getting my hood closed ('94); sometimes can get one side, but never both.

Well, I strapped my spare on top for the first time over the weekend for my first trip of the year to Rausch Creek (PA). Almost flopped twice during the day - once sliding down a snowy hill; the second time on the "Gauntlet." Guess I'll think of a better solution next time out.

I've heard those are actually pretty good. An improvement over a typical lift block, which is also useful for minor wheelbase adjustments. (I'm not sure why the page/ad specifically mentions Suburbans.)

X2 those who recommend 4.10 gears. You're never going to go smaller, and 3.55s are such a half-measure. If you're using some sort of calculation to guess what ratio, consider that 3.55 or 3.73 are/should be good ratios for stock size tires, ergo 4.10 with 31s.

I'd call Rusty's and see if they wouldn't be nice enough to send you the installation instructions. A lot of companies will do that for you versus having you install their product (even used) incorrectly and making noise about it later.
