I had a similar clunking to a stop going downhill....definately thought it was some ugly drum brake issues. It turns out my shocks were shot. Everytime i hit the brakes the nose would dive and the rear shocks would clunk to a stop. New bilstein 5100's fixed my issue.
not so sure that cleaning the cps will do anything. also unplugging it might not be it either...have you checked the continuity on the sensor itself? Do you have spark? do you hear the fuel pump come on when the ignition is turned to accessory?
I'm guilty of this as well...luckily mine fell on the good side of the flywheel. Before putting the new one on... dremel out the holes to open tabs...and put some duct tape over the hole before you put those new screws in..
Thanks for the ideas guys... the tranny and motor mounts look good in the fact that the rubber seems to not be falling apart, and is in good condition....but post tcase drop, i did notice the rubber pulling away from some of the metal contact areas due to the new angle. Now that you're talking...
I've been chasing down a driveline vibration for a few months now.. I have a two inch AAL on a 97 cherokee sport, and with a 1 inch tcase drop it's been vibe free for about two years since lifting. A couple months ago I noticed a rear end shimmy (passenger seat wiggling away) and went the...
I'd recommend doing the cps bracket alteration. (basically cutting the screw mount holes so they're open semi circles. This way you can just back off the mounting screwand slide the new one on. After dropping a screw into my bellhousing, I learned the hard way. It'll easily make changing the...
x10 on Bilsteins, threw the 2-3" lift 5100's on my somewhat stiff bastard pack lift, and it now drives better than stock. They're firm but more forgiving the more you throw at them.
I'd pull the front seat, cut a small hole (there's a drain plug there, if you pull it out you can see the offending nut once the seat is out and carpet pulled back) I broke the weld on one nut putting my t/case drop in, and it was quite easy to hold a new nut on from the top and put a new bolt...
I've pretty have the exact setup minus the control arms. Take a look at ironrockoffroad.com I got rough country add a leafs for 2.25" of lift and some poly spacers which gave me 2" in the front. Those grand coils should def balance things out. People will say this setup might run a little...
I know my 97 XJ has had me underneath the truck sniffing the gravel for gasoline on a couple occasions thinking my half tank mysteriously drained out and reading empty! How did you find out about the recall...and if it's still current?
